Either I'm mis-remembering the first book, or they're really stepping up the pace of some of these stories.

I'm told King basically re-wrote the first book in 2003, so the book I read is no longer canon.

I'm a King fan, but I've never tackled the Dark Tower series. I think I've been intimidated by it and all of the ancillary books I'd have to read to get the whole story.

I love Stephen King a lot, but The Gunslinger is the worst book I've ever read that I couldn't put down until I was finished. It was really weird.

Was that the re-write? The Gunslinger, when I read the first version, was strange, disjointed, dream-like, but pretty cool.

I didn't realize there was a re-write. Though it kind of makes sense in context of the series, I'll have to track that down.
The Dark Tower series is my all time favorite series and King is my favorite author, so I'm cautiously stoked about this.

Pretty cool until the talking train, I thought. That was a little... Odd...

I am well excited for The Dark Tower, but the trailer looks very little like the story I remember. Definitely putting that on the "To re-read" list before the movie comes out...

Also, I would have started the trailer with the line from the book - "The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed." Sets the basis of the story (and everything that happens after) quite nicely...
Until next time, this Has-Been's
