Asbestos plays the long game, but it has proven itself to be the most dangerous threat of those listed.

Will Ferrel is clearly the greatest threat since Kevin Costner, and not just to us- the crimes he has committed against Comedy must not be allowed to stand... :damn:

Great Odin's Raven, SoyDave! I had no idea you harbored such a powerful hatred for Will Ferrel.

I will absolutely not use this information to torment you at some future date.

Sounds like Dave hates Will Ferrel as much as I hate that schmuck Patrick Dempsey.

I'm vehemently opposed to many things at many times... Especially people who butcher Entertainment's poor bloated carcass and call it comedy...

Then again, maybe I'm overstating that and I just don't find him funny when the rest of the world seems to think he shits comedy gold.

I enjoy three of his movies, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers. Of course, those are all more than 10 years old now. I can't think of a movie he's done since then that I'd really want to watch.

I DID watch his "coverage" of The Rose Bowl Parade on Amazon Prime and thought it was a great parody of what is one of the most inane announcing jobs in the business. If all Ferrell does from now on is surrealist in-character cameos, I think that would be just fine.

I like Anchorman and Step Brothers, and that's about it. I also like Stranger Than Fiction, but that's a different type of humor than his usual stuff.

I haven't actually watched most of his stuff. I have seen Elf and will admit that it's all right -- though I don't classify it as a "watch every year" film. Buddy wears thin pretty quickly. Stranger Than Fiction is indeed pretty good. But then, I always felt even in his SNL days that Ferrell worked better as a straight man.
Sometimes I believe as many as six impossible things before breakfast. Often my breakfast itself encompasses four of them.

Honestly, Stranger Than Fiction is one of my 20 favorite movies of all time.

Oh yeah, he's great on Celebrity Jeopardy as the exasperated Alex Trebek, because he let's the other actors go crazy and bounce off him.

I haven't been able to sit through one of his movies. The style of comedy they usually are grates on me, regardless of who is in it. Didn't get to see any of him on SNL because it was never played outside of late nights on the Comedy Channel on pay TV here. I think I might have liked him in that from the sounds of it. The straight man is a tough role to hold down when everyone else is getting the big laughs...

Try watching Stranger Than Fiction, SDave. It's a very different version of him (and that movie is really good.)

I guess I'll have to give that one a shot too.

I think I watched Everything Must Go, which was a more-serious role, but it was pretty mediocre.

Would it change anyone's vote if I told you that the sentient cotton candy is actually spun from diabetic elf piss?
